PADI Rescue Diver Course

Becoming a Rescue Diver builds your confidence in your own ability. You can enjoy your Scuba Diving, knowing you can deal with situations of potential danger.

Commonly, Rescue Divers are seen as great buddies around the world. This also tells the dive professionals that a Rescue Diver has passed an intensive but fun course, and know exactly what to do - should in the unlikely event a dive goes wrong.

PADI Rescue Diver Course Pre-Requisites:

  • PADI Advanced Open Water diver (or equivalent certification from another training agency).
  • Prior to certification all students must have completed a sanctioned first aid course which includes CPR training within the past 2 years. The EFR (Emergency First Response) course run by Orca Scuba Diving Academy is highly recommended and meets all course requirements. We offer a discounted rate on the EFR course when run in conjunction with the Rescue Diver course.
  • All students must fill in a PADI medical questionnaire prior to participation.
  • Minimum age is 12 and 12-15 year olds will be awarded junior certification.

PADI Rescue Diver Course Outline:

Like all PADI dive centres, the course is in three phases - Knowledge Development, Confined Water training sessions and Open Water dives.

Knowledge Development:You will work through one chapter of your manual at a time in a similar fashion to that of your previous PADI courses. This allows you to study in your own time at home, at work, on the train, but more importantly, at your own pace. All we ask is that you complete the chapter prior to the weeks training session. Orca's instructors will then run through the chapter with you and you will take a short test to ensure a comprehensive understanding of Rescue theory.

Confined Water Rescue Training - (In The Pool): After each Knowledge Development session you will move to the pool where you will put into practice what you have learnt so far. This phase of the course will focus upon problem solving and accident management techniques, which will be run by way of realistic but very enjoyable scenario exercises.

Open Water Rescue Training: We now move to an Open water scuba diving site in Essex or the South East for you to bring all your skills together and take part in a series of open water rescue scenarios in a realistic setting.

The PADI Rescue Diver course polishes off all skills that are needed to ensure you are an asset to any dive trip. Past students have often commented that after completing the Rescue Diver course they look at diving in a totally different light, as now they are prepared for the unexpected.

The Rescue course has proved to be a favourite with the Orca instructor's as it brings out a different side to all who participate in the course.
